Lenten lunches on offer in Consett

St Patrick’s parish in Consett is remembering those less fortunate than ourselves with a series of Lenten lunches.

Every Friday during Lent, bread and soup will be offered at St Patrick’s church hall in return for a small donation to CAFOD.

Agnes Nelson will help organise the lunches along with five other parishioners.

She said: “This is our fifth year and we are still going strong, it is a really nice get together.

“It is a good reminder for people that there are people in the world who go hungry every day. Over the years we have raised a lot for CAFOD.”

CAFOD Lent Fast Day is on Friday March 10 and CAFOD’s lent appeal runs from Ash Wednesday.
