Getting to Know You (as the song goes…)

This year's Gappers. James is at the back in the centre.

A couple of weeks ago, I ventured to the depths of darkest Consett to visit our new Step Into The Gap participants (who’ll be referred to as “Gappers” from now on) and see what they are like. I asked them to answer 10 questions about themselves which might have been a good way to know what makes them tick. As it turned out, I found that they each had a sense of humour and possibly odd taste in dinner guests.

First up is James, he’s at the back and centre of the photo above.

Q1. Describe yourself in five words.

Calm, reflective, peaceful, smiley trustworthy.

Q2. Which Bible passage or quote speaks most to you?

Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the patern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Q3. Who would you cast in the film of your life and who would be actually cast?

Sid the Sloth (from the Ice Age films) but for the sake of optimism I would hope for Jim Carey.

Q4. Your Christian hero/heroine and why? (Jesus is not allowed)

Br. Damien Lundi because of his ground-breaking notions about young people experiencing their faith or Henry Nouwen because I was so deeplyinspired by his notions of peacemaking.

Q5. Who is the most famous person you have met?

Alan Shearer

Q6. Pope Francis. Discuss. (In ten words)

He’s the servant of servants, in actions not just words.

Q7.Four dinner party guests (alive or dead) and why?

Christopher Nolan, Luc Besson, Quentin Tarantino, Darren Aronofsky. (Why? James is heavily into films!)

Q8.Only two miracles feature in all four Gospels, the Feeding of the 5000 is one, which is the other?

The Resurrection (though not commonly acknowledged as a miracle, it is the only other act of Jesus featured in all four Gospels) This aroused some debate as I’d always thought it was the biggest miracle of all, however the doubt arose from the Wikipedia entry, which questioned whether this was classed as a miracle or not.

Q9. What’s you biggest fear about your foreign trip?

The language barrier.

Q10. If you had one question for God, what would it be?

Next up is Kat.

That’ll be when I get the chance to write her answers up!

John
